Money saved on Black Friday can be put to good use on December 1, #GivingTuesday, when anyone making a gift to the Penn State Mont Alto Athletics Fund will be matched by Craig and Page Nitterhouse and Matt and Tana Oyer up to $6,000. Mont Alto Athletics is one of three matching gift challenges available to Penn Staters during #GivingTuesday. University Libraries and Intercollegiate Athletics also offer matching gifts.  To learn more or make a gift go to giveto.psu.edu/givingtuesday.

On #GivingTuesday, people around the world will make gifts to show their belief in important issues, exciting ideas, and people and organizations dedicated to pursuing them. Penn State supporters — alumni, parents, friends and fans — are being asked to raise their voices in support of Penn State students by making gifts of any size to any area of the University.

Support for Penn State Mont Alto Athletics not only enhances the student-athletes’ experiences by providing necessary funds for facility maintenance and equipment not met by the University but also helps to create a positive campus spirit and atmosphere for all Mont Alto students.

During the 24-hour event, Penn State Mont Alto student groups will also promote their own philanthropic engagement and call on each other to participate. No matter how large or small the gifts or what is supported, the goal is to hear from as many Penn Staters on #GivingTuesday as possible, proving what the Penn State community can do when it acts together.

Supporters are encouraged to spread the word and their support for #GivingTuesday on social media. They can join the conversation by using the hashtag #PSUGivingTue on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Giving progress can be followed throughout Dec. 1 by “liking” Penn State Forever on Facebook and Twitter. In addition, supporters can be a social media ambassador by signing up to join the Nittany Network at psu.socialtoaster.com, where they can also earn prizes for talking about Penn State on their social media networks.
