The Penn State Mont Alto LaunchBox, a business incubator funded by a seed grant from the Invent Penn State initiative, is now accepting proposals for its inaugural LION Tank Competition to be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on March 16 in the General Studies Auditorium.

Mont Alto LaunchBox offers free services

The Mont Alto LaunchBox, a business incubator funded by a seed grant from Penn State’s Invent Penn State initiative, will begin to provide free assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs in downtown Chambersburg in January 2018. The incubator is located at 40 North Second St. in downtown Chambersburg.

Penn State Mont Alto Chancellor Francis K. Achampong hosted an open house and reception on Nov. 16 to introduce the Mont Alto LaunchBox, a program to promote entrepreneurship in Franklin County. Penn State’s NSF I-Corps program seeks applications by Sept. 15 and Oct. 15

The National Science Foundation has joined in supporting Penn State’s goal of taking more of its discoveries to market by awarding Penn State a five-year, $500,000 Innovation Corps (I-Corps) grant to establish the Invent Penn State I-Corps Site in collaboration with Ben Franklin Technology Partner’s TechCelerator, Happy Valley LaunchBox, and Invent Penn State’s Innovation Hubs.

Invent Penn State initiative awards four $50,000 seed grants to campuses

The Invent Penn State initiative announced the awarding of four $50,000 seed grants to develop additional innovation hubs to jump-start entrepreneurial activities in campus communities across the Commonwealth. Awarded by a competitive selection process, the four grants will go to the Brandywine, Fayette, Mont Alto and Worthington Scranton campuses.

As part of Penn State President Eric Barron’s Invent Penn State initiative, Penn State Mont Alto is one of four Commonwealth Campuses to receive a three-year, $50,000 grant to develop the LaunchBox ― an incubator to help aspiring entrepreneurs develop their ideas and take their products and services to market.
