More than 100 Penn State Mont Alto students presented and displayed their best academic and artistic work during the Thirteenth Annual Penn State Mont Alto Academic Festival on April 20, 2018. Following the festival, winners were announced and recognized during an awards ceremony in the General Studies Building Auditorium
The Penn State Mont Alto Chorale will host its Fourth Annual Choral Festival on May 5 in the Multipurpose Activities Center (MAC) during a grand evening of musical performances with five other local schools and about 160 student voices. The festival is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. General Admission tickets will be $5 per person at the door.
On May 5, Penn State Mont Alto will honor 129 graduating students and confer 131 degrees — 78 bachelor’s degrees and 53 associate degrees. Two students will receive two degrees. Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Pedro A. Rivera will give the Commencement address. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in the Multipurpose Activities Center (MAC).
During the 2018 spring term, Penn State Mont Alto students majoring in information science and technology (IST) and health policy and administration (HPA) collaborated to develop user-friendly systems for health care organizations. Through a joint project, they not only deepened their knowledge in their respective fields but also learned how to communicate their ideas more effectively, to think creatively, and to work collaboratively.

Penn State Mont Alto honored 129 graduating students May 5 during its spring 2018 commencement ceremony. Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Pedro A. Rivera gave the commencement address urging graduates to do what they love.
Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer and President Robert "Bob" J. Fignar, Penn State class of 1985, The First Community Bank of Mercersburg has established a new scholarship for Penn State Mont Alto students with financial need. Through the Open Doors Scholarship Program, First Community Bank’s gift of $30,000 will earn a 2:1 match, creating a $90,000 scholarship endowment to support Mont Alto students.
The Center for Global Studies recently presented $73,800 in awards to faculty members and students whose work advances research and projects in global studies.
