Employee Information regarding Schedule Changes

When the campus decides not to cancel scheduled activities, individual employees should take responsibility for their own safety. Supervisors are encouraged to address the needs of employees who have concerns about safely traveling to / from work.
Faculty should indicate on course syllabi the start of each class in the event of a weather delay. Faculty who need to cancel individual classes when the campus is otherwise open should notify students through their voicemail greeting, Canvas, or email of class changes. Charlene Saeman should also be notified by email or telephone.
When classes are on a modified schedule:
The campus will be closed to non-essential personnel from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This will allow essential personnel, Physical Plant and Housing and Food Services personnel time to prepare the campus for your safe arrival and to serve students. All non-essential employees should report to open their offices at 10 a.m. so that students have access to campus services. If you are unable to report on time, please notify your supervisor.
When classes start at noon:
The campus will be closed to non-essential personnel from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This will allow essential personnel, Physical Plant and Housing and Food Services personnel time to prepare the campus for your safe arrival and to serve students. All non-essential employees should report to open their offices at 10 a.m. so that students have access to campus services. If you are unable to report on time, please notify your supervisor.
When classes start at six in the evening:
Prior to 6 p.m., the campus will be closed to non-essential personnel unless otherwise directed. Essential personnel will report as normal. Classes and campus activities beginning at 6 p.m. and later will be held as scheduled. If you are unable to report on time, please notify your supervisor.
When classes are canceled:
The campus will be closed to non-essential personnel from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This will allow essential personnel, Physical Plant and Housing and Food Services personnel time to prepare the campus for your safe arrival and to serve students. All non-essential employees should report to open their offices at 10 a.m. so that students have access to campus services. If you are unable to report on time, please notify your supervisor.
When the campus is closed:
If weather conditions are very severe, the campus may be closed. This means all classes are cancelled and offices are closed. Only essential employees need to report for work. Nonessential staff should reference the campus website at https://montalto.psu.edu/ or call the weather hotline 717-749-6090 to determine if they are required to report to work.
This procedure will be re-evaluated on an annual basis.
