Penn State Mont Alto occupational therapy assistant students are not only engaging 4-year-old Kamdyn Hartung through their studies, they are also assisting with The Gala for Hope for Kamdyn’s Kure, an event to be held in his honor April 7 at the Green Grove Gardens in Greencastle.
On March 31, Penn State Mont Alto’s Nittany Lion Reads program, which promotes reading at local schools, visited the Scotland Elementary School in Chambersburg.
It’s no secret that Penn State includes a network of campuses throughout the state of Pennsylvania, but incoming students may not be fully aware of all the financial benefits attending a campus other than University Park may afford.
On April 21, Penn State Mont Alto theater students will perform four puppet shows beginning at noon at the Waynesboro Daycare Center in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. About 60 children, ages 4 and 5, will attend the performance. All of the shows have educational themes, including sportsmanship, recycling, healthy eating and exercise, and sharing and working together.
Wenhong Luo, an assistant curator at the Yunnan Nationalities Museum in China and visiting scholar in American Studies at Penn State Harrisburg, will present a lecture on Chinese quilts, entitled “NÜ GONG as a Cultural Practice in Chinese History,” at the Penn State Mont Alto Library. The lecture will begin at 11:00 a.m. It is free of charge and open to the public.

In 1971, the Shah of Iran celebrated 2,500 years of the Persian monarchy by throwing an extravagant party that would mark the break between the Shah and the people of Iran he reigned over. The documentary “Decadence and Downfall – The Shah of Iran’s Ultimate Party” will be shown as part of the “Docunight: Iran via Documentaries” series at 7 p.m. on May 3.

Nearly 100 Penn State Mont Alto students presented and displayed their best academic and artistic work during the Twelfth Annual Penn State Mont Alto Academic Festival on April 21, 2017. Following the festival, winners were announced and recognized during an awards ceremony.
