Course Descriptions
The Project Management Certificate Program is a structured series of courses that prepare students for careers in planning and business. This program is designed for employees from organizations involved in engineering, research, and development, healthcare, data processing, construction, facilities management, manufacturing, corporate planning, finance, and marketing.
These four courses will enhance the skills of technical competence and practical applications. A Penn State certificate is awarded on successful completion of the four required courses taken in sequential order.

- Dates: Wednesdays, January 31 - May 22, 2024 - 6 to 9 p.m.
- Cost: $1,995 for the entire four-course program
- Location: Instructor-led training via Zoom

PJMGT 5000 — Project Initiation and Planning
The first course in the project management certificate program addresses the role of the project manager; organizational structures; the project life cycle; the project office; leadership; project selection criteria; the project planning process, objectives, scope, benefits, and strategies; as well as project planning, constraints, assumptions, exclusions, milestones, communications, and closeout criteria.
PJMGT 5001A — Project Scheduling and Integration
This dynamic, hands-on course can provide students with the knowledge and ability to take a project plan and develop a schedule of the work needed to deliver the project objectives. The students can learn about developing a work breakdown structure, developing tasks, networking these tasks together, and analyzing the resulting schedule.
PJMGT 5002 — Project Costing and Control
The third course in the Project Management Certificate program focuses on selection criteria, procurement, cost estimating, and control mechanisms.
PJMGT 5003 — Project Risk
and Change Management
The final course in the Project Management Certificate program addresses risk and change management; team responsibilities; conflicts; quality; ethics; and closeout.
Project Management Professional Certification (PMP®)
This program of four courses meets the 35-hour education requirement to sit for the Project Management Institute’s PMP® exam. Our program is designed for participants who are interested in pursuing Project Management expertise by understanding the basics of project management terminology, and how to set realistic expectations with project teams, build schedules, allocate resources, lead change, and manage budgets. PMP® certification is a proven way to enhance your résumé, elevate your career potential, and boost your earnings.
