Biography
Dr. Skacel earned a PhD from Cornell University Graduate School of Medical Sciences and has over 12 years teaching experience in basic and health sciences; formerly twenty years of biomedical research.

Dr. Skacel earned an undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a PhD from Cornell University Graduates School of Medical Sciences. She has over twelve years teaching experience and has taught a variety of courses including Anatomy and Physiology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Pharmacogenomics, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Molecular Medicine, and Integrated Basic Health Sciences, as an Assistant Professor and as an Adjunct Instructor at various institutions including George Mason University, James Madison University, The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Georgetown University, and various other colleges including Anne Arundel Community College, Northern Virginia community College, Germanna Community College, The University of Virginia School of Education Professionals and The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. Dr. Skacel has over twenty years of research experience conducted at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center, Cornell University Graduate School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and focused on molecular mechanisms of resistance to chemotherapeutic agents, pharmacology and experimental therapeutics and basic and clinical immunology. She has substantial experience collaborating with clinical and medical researchers; and she developed and co-created educational outreach programs supported by Howard Hughes Medical Institute; Over the years, she has mentored and supported health professions students entering the fields of nursing, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and optometry.
