Keynote Speaker

Kimberly Eaton has a Ph. D. in Clinical Social Work. She is a graduate of Hood College and the University of Maryland.  She is a licensed Social Worker in Pennsylvania and Maryland.  Dr. Eaton entered the field of Social Work as a counselor in a domestic violence program.  She then served for 10 years as the residential director for several girls’ group homes and a treatment foster care program in Maryland. In 2005, Dr. Eaton was hired by Franklin County to design and direct a day reporting center which has been operating since April 2006.  The center uses evidence-based programming to reduce criminogenic behaviors in offenders who are ordered to attend.

Dr. Eaton is active in many committees through the Criminal Justice Advisory Board.  She is currently serving as a co-chairperson for the newly developed reentry coalition named Franklin Together.  Dr. Eaton is the volunteer coordinator for the Waynesboro Youth Aid Panel.  Currently, she is helping to coordinate a Youth Court program in several area high schools.  A past adjunct professor for the Social Work department at Shippensburg University, Dr. Eaton currently teaches online courses on addiction and human services for the University of Phoenix.

Her topic of how to find happiness will cover the many ways we can accomplish this throughout our lives.  Happiness is a state of well-being stemming from a life filled with meaning and satisfaction.  Research shows that happiness is not about being joyful all the time. Happiness arises from overcoming challenges while developing a sense of accomplishment.  Many things influence our happiness, but nothing more than our own thoughts.  Learn how to be happy in every situation and spread joy to others!
