Mont Alto Professor's Research Adds to Conversation about Effects of Social Distancing on LGBTQ Emerging Adults

Barrett Scroggs was studying substance abuse among young adults who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) when the COVID-19 pandemic added a new dimension.

You like work with children, teens, families, and adults. Human Development and Family Studies is an interdisciplinary program that combines the study of psychology, biology, sociology, medicine, anthropology, history, social work, and philosophy. Students have hands-on experiences through a variety of internships, fieldwork, classwork, and volunteer work. Coursework includes the study of human development from conception to death, theories and research on development, ethics and social policy, family development and relationships, social problems and issues, and physical and mental health.

Many of our students who complete their Associate HDFS degree choose to continue their educational career here at Mont Alto in the Bachelor's HDFS degree program.
