MONT ALTO, Pa. On Oct. 31, Penn State Mont Alto’s Student Nursing Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) will host a safe alternative for trick-or-treaters with a "Trunk-or-Treat" on the Mont Alto Campus. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Penn State Mont Alto commuter parking lot.

Local families are invited to participate. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

“Decorate your trunk or back of your vehicle, fill it with candy, put on your best costume, and enjoy a little trunk-to-trunk trick-or-treating,” said Bridget Weaver, SNAP chair.

First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded for the best decorated trunks, and three prizes will be given away for best costumes. Costume categories include: most school spirit, scariest, and most creative. Registration is required for trunk entry, by contacting Weaver at [email protected].

Participants are asked to bring one canned food item per trick-or-treater. SNAP will donate the food to a local food bank.

“SNAP is dedicated to making a difference in the community,” said Weaver. “We focus on community-driven events that enrich the lives of those living here as well as educating individuals about the nursing profession in general.”

“Our hope is that the Trunk-or-Treat event will unify Penn State Mont Alto students with individuals in our community,” she said.

SNAP is open to all nursing students and members take part in both community service and social events.
