Arboretum (ar' be re' tem); noun. A place where trees are cultivated for scientific purposes. The Penn State Mont Alto Arboretum, established by the Pennsylvania State Forest Academy in 1903, is a living, historic collection and outdoor classroom that exists to promote the aesthetic, educational, and research values of woody plants for present and future generations.
