MONT ALTO, Pa. ― The Mont Alto LaunchBox will host its second annual micro-grant pitch competition, LION Tank, on March 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the General Studies Building auditorium on Penn State Mont Alto campus. The event is sponsored by the Patriot Federal Credit Union in Chambersburg. It is open to the public and free of charge. Registered audience members are eligible to win prizes. Three business entrepreneurs have been selected to compete in LION Tank, a “Shark-Tank"-like competition. The competitors include Penn State and Shippensburg University students as well as members of the community. Their business ideas include a variety of services and industries, such as an app that offers customers prizes and incentives while benefiting local businesses; a modular drone racking kit; and a better, cheaper and faster way to mix powdered formula for infants.
The top two will be awarded mini-grants of $1,000 and $1,500, receive one year’s access to the Mont Alto LaunchBox facility, and receive additional services to help launch their products into the marketplace.
The Mont Alto LaunchBox, located at 40 North Second Street in Chambersburg, provides resources and support to entrepreneurs in a free, co-working space to help early-stage and more advanced startups build a sustainable and scalable business and a viable plan for growth.
