This fall, Penn State Mont Alto will offer a bachelor of science degree in psychology — a degree that has strong job prospects, according to a report by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.
During Penn State Mont Alto’s Evening Talk and Star Party Fall Series, faculty and staff will share their experiences and expertise in a diverse collection of topics, from astronomy to forestry and music. Held on Wednesdays, Sept. 5, Oct. 24, and Nov. 14 in the General Studies Auditorium, the talks begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
The Mont Alto LaunchBox will host three Entrepreneur Workshops this fall on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the LaunchBox at 40 North Second Street in Chambersburg. Any aspiring entrepreneur can register to attend at montalto.psu.edu/launchbox/workshops. The workshops are open to the public and free of charge.
On Aug. 18, Penn State Mont Alto’s Multipurpose Activities Center was a hub of activity with flowing academic regalia and welcoming words of advice and encouragement for this year’s incoming class.
“Nothing to Hide,” a touring photo-text exhibit that aims to prevent prejudice and discrimination around mental health and mental illness, will be on display at the Penn State Mont Alto Library, second floor, Sept. 4-30. The exhibit will open with a reception from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 4. The public is invited to attend the reception and view the exhibit free of charge throughout its duration.
Members of the Penn State and local communities are invited to celebrate Constitution Day with on-campus events at University Park on Monday, Sept. 17, as well as activities at a number of Penn State campuses.
Penn State Mont Alto will host the first of three Faculty & Staff Colloquy Series talks for fall 2018 on Sept. 12 from 12:20 p.m. to 1:10 p.m., in the Heritage Room of The Millstream Café. David Seitz, Penn State Mont Alto associate professor of communications, will present “World War I, Mass Death, and the Birth of the Modern U.S. Soldier: A Rhetorical History.” The event is open to the public and free of charge.
The South Mountain Partnership Speaker Series, co-sponsored by the Penn State Mont Alto Forestry Club, will present “The Cradle of Conservation: Hike at the Historic Pennsylvania Forest Academy” from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 29 at the Mont Alto campus.
