Ways to Give: Corporations & Foundations

Foundations and corporations are large supporters of Penn State Mont Alto. Often, the campus is working toward the same goals as area businesses. For instance, it has been our goal to educate as many qualified registered nurses as possible over the past several years. With the recent nursing shortage, it is our responsibility to help provide the education and help fill the need for nurses in this region. A few key medical corporations and foundations have joined with us in this effort.

There are many ways that you can support Penn State Mont Alto. If, after reading the following examples, you or your corporation would like to work with Penn State, please call the Office of University Relations at 717-749-6105.

Equipment and Gifts-in-Kind

The need for scientific and other specialized equipment for classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and offices is always present. Penn State depends on philanthropic sources—especially corporate partnerships—for gifts-in-kind and direct support that will help maintain a state-of-the-art, industry relevant educational experience.

Gifts-in-kind are non-cash donations used by the University to carry out its educational, research and outreach missions. Examples of gifts-in-kind include:

  • computers
  • software
  • services such as printing, graphic design, engineering, auctioneering, sculpting and artwork, etc.
  • furniture
  • books, music, scripts
  • office items
  • laboratory instrumentation
  • construction materials

By providing Penn State with a gift-in-kind or assisting in the attainment of equipment, your company is establishing itself as a corporate partner of the University.

Faculty Support

Faculty chairs and professorships are among the most important resources any university can have in assembling and maintaining a distinguished faculty. Endowed positions provide a stable, dependable source of income for special teaching and research materials, library acquisitions, salary supplements, and travel assistance.

By endowing a chair, professorship, or fellowship, your organization is demonstrating its commitment to Penn State's academic mission. A faculty endowment will permanently associate your company/foundation name with the accomplishments of scholars who hold the position you create while increasing your visibility with the University.

Educational Support Opportunity

Talented and committed graduate and undergraduate students are Penn State's lifeblood. The University has given the highest priority to their education and career preparation since its founding. But student support includes more than scholarships to cover tuition and living expenses. It provides enrichment funds to support special research opportunities with faculty, internships, study abroad, and creative experiences expected of advanced-degree candidates in addition to recognizing superior achievement.

By supporting Penn State students through fellowships and scholarships, you provide a permanent legacy at the University while establishing relationships with the talented students who are offered the support provided by your organization.

Program Support

Program support allows Penn State to constantly refresh and renew its academic programs and move into new disciplines as opportunities arise. By providing support for programs, organizations contribute to advancing research of national importance while enhancing undergraduate and graduate education. When supporting programs, you are making a clear commitment to the future of the University and are establishing a link with these new fields of study.

Facilities

Modern, well-designed buildings and facilities are vital environments to nurture creative ideas and innovative developments. Funding these projects allows organizations to make a substantial and visible investment in the future of Penn State while improving the overall educational value received by the students.
