Penn State Mont Alto theater students performed two original, educational puppet shows about saving the rain forest at the invitation of First Lady of Pennsylvania Frances Wolf, during the annual Earth Day Celebration at the governor’s residence on April 22.

Mont Alto to host fifth annual Choral Festival

The Penn State Mont Alto Chorale will host its fifth annual Choral Festival on May 4 in the Multipurpose Activities Center during a grand evening of choral musical performances. The Chorale will be joined by five other local schools, totaling about 185 student voices.

Mont Alto student named 2018 PennACE Intern

Penn State Mont Alto student Courtney Stump recently received the Pennsylvania Associate of Colleges and Employers JoAnne Day Student of the Year Award in the associate degree category. The award was given for her exemplary work performance as a physical therapist assistant intern at Chambersburg’s Innovative Rehab Associates during summer 2018. Stump is the first Mont Alto student to receive this honor.

Mont Alto Renaissance Fund Dinner raises $60K

About 100 family members, friends and regional business leaders gathered in the Multipurpose Activities Center at Penn State Mont Alto on April 12 to honor Mike and Donna Ross and join in the establishment of a Renaissance Fund Scholarship. Together, they raised $60,190 that will support academically talented Penn State students with financial need in perpetuity.

Workshop helps kick-start business ideas

The Mont Alto LaunchBox will offer a free workshop for aspiring entrepreneurs from 6 to 7 p.m. April 25 at 40 North Second St. in Chambersburg. “So, you have an idea for a business. Now what?” will be presented by Kathyrn Gratton, SCORE Four State Chapter chair, Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro executive director, and a certified small business mentor.

Chorale to perform music from stage and screen

The Penn State Mont Alto Chorale will perform “Music from the Stage and Screen, Take Three,” from 7 to 8 p.m. on April 28 in the General Studies Auditorium. The performance will feature songs from award-winning musicals and a couple classic pop songs. The Chorale will also acknowledge the 80th anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz" with a beautiful arrangement of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

2019 Academic Festival showcases student work

Seventy-two Penn State Mont Alto students displayed and presented their best academic and artistic work on April 12, during the 14th annual Penn State Mont Alto Academic Festival. Innovative research-based posters, informational exhibits, and oral presentations were presented in the Multipurpose Activities Center, while student artwork was on display in the library.

DHS secretary to address Mont Alto graduating class

Teresa D. Miller, secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, will address the Penn State Mont Alto graduating Class of 2019 during their commencement ceremony on May 4 beginning at 10 a.m. in the Multipurpose Activities Center on campus.
