Members of the Penn State Mont Alto Nurses Club collected pediatric supplies for the Heaven's Angels Pediatric Clinic, which provides children affordable medical care in Haiti. Julie Reichard, a 2014 Mont Alto alumna and nurse, moved her family to Haiti to set up the clinic and serves as its director.
Forty people including students, faculty and alumni donated their time to improve the Penn State Mont Alto Arboretum during the “Every Day is Arbor Day” event on April 22.
Penn State Mont Alto forestry and nursing students participated in a trauma-training event on April 29, giving them hands-on experience with emergency and rescue care.
The Penn State Mont Alto College of Nursing held its annual Pinning Ceremony on May 5 in the Multipurpose Activities Center (MAC). Thirty nursing students were pinned by family or faculty members of their choosing and took the “Nightingale Pledge.” Words of congratulations and best wishes were offered by Instructor in Nursing Susan Wells, the ceremony’s featured speaker.
Chancellor Francis Achampong thanked and recognized Penn State Mont Alto faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication during the annual End-of-year Luncheon and Awards in the Multipurpose Activities Center (MAC) on May 6.
Penn State Mont Alto’s Randall Ackerman, director of campus development, and Brandi Biesecker, development assistant, were recognized by Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations with the Teamwork and Collaboration Award during the division’s quarterly meeting May 23 in the grand ballroom of The Nittany Lion Inn.
Staci Brennan will join Penn State Mont Alto as its new athletic director July 1. She comes to Mont Alto from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, where she served as associate director of athletics and compliance coordinator.
On July 8, more than sixty colleagues, friends, and family members gathered on the Penn State Mont Alto campus to formally dedicate the Debra K. Creager Memorial Garden that sits adjacent to the historic Emmanuel Chapel.
