The Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award

Description

The purpose of this award shall be to recognize undergraduate students enrolled at the Commonwealth campuses whose outstanding qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and citizenship have been directed into programs and services that have positively influenced fellow students and have contributed to the prestige and well-being of their campus and, hence, to the reputation of the University as a whole.

Award

  • Engraved plaque to be permanently displayed at Mont Alto honoring winners 
  • Framed Certificate 
  • Medallion 

Funds for the certificates and medallions have been contributed by Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker. 

 

Eligibility

  • Nominee must be a current student enrolled at the Commonwealth campuses
  • Nominee must be completing two full years of undergraduate study in either an associate degree or baccalaureate degree program
  • Nominee must consistently demonstrate the qualities which the Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker Award honors during this period of enrollment.

Criteria for Judging

  • Possess outstanding qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and citizenship. 
  • Contribute to programs and services that positively influence fellow students. 
  • Enhance the prestige and well-being of the Penn State Mont Alto campus, and the reputation of the University as a whole.  
     

Procedure 

  • Nominations accepted from Penn State Mont Alto Faculty or Staff. 
  • Nominator consults with student nominee in order to fully complete required fields in the online nomination form (online form located at bottom of page). 
  • Once form has been submitted by nominator, student nominee will be prompted to submit a personal statement in support of the nomination. 
  • Nomination and personal statement must include the nominee’s qualifications for the award as they relate to the “Criteria for Judging”.

Nomination Deadline

Nomination deadline for the 2024-2025 award season is March 28, 2025.
