Marty Ogle Student-Athlete of the Year Award

Description

This award will be presented annually to a current student-athlete from a men’s team and a current student-athlete from a women’s team who has distinguished themselves throughout their Penn State Mont Alto careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletic prowess, and leadership.  Student-athletes deserving of this award should also exemplify Marty Ogle’s qualities of caring, leadership, and competitiveness.

Award

• Framed Certificate
• Engraved plaques to be displayed on campus honoring these and subsequent winners
• Two awards will be given: one to a student-athlete from a men’s team and one to a student-athlete from a women’s team

Eligibility

• Nominee must participate on an intercollegiate varsity team during the current academic year
• Nominee must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Proven athletic prowess (e.g. school records/team records/conference records, honors/recognitions, named to all-conference teams/all-american teams, etc.)
• Nominee much exhibit the following characteristics:  caring, leadership, and competitiveness
• No disciplinary record

Criteria for Judging

• Confirm participation on an intercollegiate varsity team during the current academic year
• Confirm academic eligibility for the award
• Confirm no disciplinary record
• Consider academic achievements and honors
• Consider athletic achievements and honors
• Consider leadership positions
• Demonstrates characteristics (caring, leadership, and competitiveness) per examples provided on the nomination form

Nomination deadline for the 2024-2025 award season will be posted in early Spring 2025.
