Award
- Framed Certificate
- Engraved plaques to be displayed on campus honoring these and subsequent winners
- Two awards will be given: one for On-Site students and one for Off-Site students
Eligibility
- Nominee must be 21 years-of-age or older
- Nominee must be enrolled at Penn State Mont Alto during the semester of nomination
- Any student in a Penn State Mont Alto degree program
- On-site: a student who has successfully completed 36 credits by the end of the semester of nomination. At least 18 of these credits must have been completed at Penn State Mont Alto
- Off-site: a student who has successfully completed at least 6 courses for a total of 18 credits
Criteria for Judging
- Difficult circumstances to overcome in order to pursue higher education
- Success in coping with numerous roles
- Innovative approaches to meeting personal education needs
- Supportive of others returning to school
- Contributions to campus and community
- Sensitizing the institution to the needs of adult students
- Cumulative grade point average
Procedure
- Nominations accepted from any Mont Alto student, faculty, or staff member. Self-nominations also accepted.
- Nomination must include
- Letter of nomination outlining the student’s qualifications for the award as they relate to established criteria (see below)
- Nomination Form (see below)

- Continuing Education Representative
- Faculty Member
