United Way of Franklin County held a tailgate campaign kick-off event at Penn State Mont Alto on Sept. 21 in the Multipurpose Activities Center. Those in attendance had the opportunity to enjoy a tailgate-style lunch, play games, hear lively band music, and meet the Nittany Lion.

Mont Alto LaunchBox Entrepreneurship Fall Forum

The Mont Alto LaunchBox, a program to support entrepreneurs in Franklin County, will host its inaugural Entrepreneurship Fall Forum from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. on Nov. 14 in the Wiestling Student Center on Penn State Mont Alto’s campus. The forum will feature Penn State students Shevy Karbasi and Jobe Matula, who have developed their own business ideas and acquired early-stage funding to help develop their products. The forum is open to all aspiring business entrepreneurs at no charge.

Artist Reception to Open Wagaman Exhibit

Penn State Mont Alto will host a reception for Haley Wagaman, a 22-year-old artist from Saint Thomas, Pennsylvania, from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 18, in the library on campus. The exhibit, which will feature watercolor paintings with pop-culture and local Southern Pennsylvania historic themes, will be on display through Dec. 15. The public is invited to meet Wagaman, view her work, and enjoy refreshments at no charge.

Intellectual property is topic of LaunchBox workshop

On Oct. 25, The Mont Alto LaunchBox will present a workshop for aspiring entrepreneurs, titled “Intellectual Property.” Rachel Herder, assistant professor of clinical law and intellectual property clinic director at Penn State Law, will describe the four main types of intellectual property – patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the LaunchBox facility, located at 40 North Second Street in Chambersburg. All aspiring entrepreneurs are invited to attend free of charge.

Student Veterans to host Veterans Day Celebration

Lt. Col. Barbara B. Cross will be the featured speaker during the Penn State Mont Alto Student Veterans Association’s annual Veterans Day celebration on Nov. 9. The event will begin at 12:20 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial behind Conklin Hall on the Mont Alto campus.
