Mont Alto LaunchBox offers free services

The Mont Alto LaunchBox, a business incubator funded by a seed grant from Penn State’s Invent Penn State initiative, will begin to provide free assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs in downtown Chambersburg in January 2018. The incubator is located at 40 North Second St. in downtown Chambersburg.

Penn State Mont Alto Chorale performs holiday concerts

The Penn State Mont Alto Chorale will perform two holiday concerts, “Noel, A Glimmer of Peace,” under the direction of Fred Davison, Penn State Mont Alto instructor in music on Dec. 5 and Dec. 10. The concerts are open to the public and free of charge. Each venue is handicap accessible.

Penn State Mont Alto Chancellor Francis K. Achampong hosted an open house and reception on Nov. 16 to introduce the Mont Alto LaunchBox, a program to promote entrepreneurship in Franklin County. The event was held in conjunction with Penn State’s Global Entrepreneurship Week, Nov. 12-16, and highlighted what Penn State is doing to promote entrepreneurship.

About 150 Penn State Mont Alto alumni, family members, and friends gathered at the Nittany Lion Inn on Nov. 11 for Mont Alto’s ninth annual Alumni and Friends Tailgate. The event was held prior to Penn State's Homecoming football game against Rutgers.

Penn State Mont Alto #GivingTuesday gift challenge

Raise your voice. Give back on #GivingTuesday. Anyone making a gift to the Penn State Mont Alto Athletics Fund from 6:55 p.m. on Nov. 27 through midnight on Nov. 28 will be generously matched up to $5,000 by Joshua Dunklebarger, class of 2002, and his wife, Erica, class of 2005. Mont Alto Athletics is one of Penn State’s matching gift challenges available during a 24-hour giving event, #GivingTuesday.

Evening talk to highlight pathos, star party follows

Penn State Mont Alto will host a free, public Evening Talk and Star Party beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the General Studies Auditorium, with David Seitz, Mont Alto associate professor of communications, presenting “Speaking to the Heart: The Rhetorical Appeal of Pathos.” Following the talk, Kimberly Herrmann, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, will lead a “moonless” star party from 8:45 to 10 p.m.
