Approximately 30 Penn State Mont Alto faculty members shared and discussed best pedagogical practices for student engagement during a full-day, off-campus retreat on June 9.
During the week of June 5-8, Penn State Mont Alto's Division of Undergraduate Studies hosted the first week of New Student Orientation for the summer, giving new students who are enrolled for fall 2017 a jump-start to the school year.
The Invent Penn State initiative announced the awarding of four $50,000 seed grants to develop additional innovation hubs to jump-start entrepreneurial activities in campus communities across the Commonwealth. Awarded by a competitive selection process, the four grants will go to the Brandywine, Fayette, Mont Alto and Worthington Scranton campuses.
As part of Penn State President Eric Barron’s Invent Penn State initiative, Penn State Mont Alto is one of four Commonwealth Campuses to receive a three-year, $50,000 grant to develop the LaunchBox ― an incubator to help aspiring entrepreneurs develop their ideas and take their products and services to market.
Penn State is moving toward a University-wide health insurance requirement for the 2018-19 academic school year. In preparation for the new requirement, University Health Services (UHS) will begin collecting student health insurance information in May 2017.
The Penn State Mont Alto Student Chorale hosted 140 students from four other area schools in a grand evening of choral performances during Penn State Mont Alto’s Third Annual Choral Festival on the evening of May 6 in the Multipurpose Activities Center (MAC).
On May 6, Penn State Mont Alto recognized 107 graduating students, conferring 53 bachelor’s degrees and 54 associate degrees. Timothy G. Henry, president and chief executive officer of Franklin Financial Services Corporation and F&M Trust, gave the commencement address in the Multipurpose Activities Center (MAC).
Chancellor Francis K. Achampong thanked and recognized Penn State Mont Alto faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication on May 5 during the annual End-of-Year Luncheon and Awards Ceremony in the Multipurpose Activities Center.
