On April 8, the best collegiate lumberjacks and lumberjills in the region will converge on Penn State Mont Alto to compete in the 16th annual Mid-Atlantic Woodsmen’s Meet and the Stihl Timbersports Collegiate Series Mid-Atlantic Qualifier ― a preliminary event to the U.S. Collegiate Championships on July 30.
The Irish Blessing, Irish Music and Dance group will bring an Irish heritage musical extravaganza to campus on March 22 from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. in The Millstream Café at Penn State Mont Alto. The public can enjoy the performance free of charge. Lunch is available for purchase.
Penn State Mont Alto’s spring Campus Symposium Series continues on March 20 when David Seitz, assistant professor of communications, and Brian Sensenig, instructor in communications, discuss “Fake News: What is it? Why does it happen? How should we react?”
The Penn State Mont Alto Office of Admissions will host its spring open house for prospective students and their families from 1 to 4:30 p.m. April 1 in the Multipurpose Activities Center on campus. During the event, students and families will receive information about the programs and opportunities at Penn State and Penn State Mont Alto.

Four Penn State Mont Alto student dancers and 85 supporters participated in THON 2017, held Feb. 17-19 at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, resulting in a total of more than $44,253 for the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon.
On Feb. 23, Penn State Mont Alto will host an “Evening Talk and Star Party,” when Kimberly Herrmann, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, presents “The Great American Solar Eclipse" from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. in the General Studies Auditorium. A star party will follow. The event is free and open to the public.
Penn State Mont Alto will host a Colloquy Series talk from 12:20 to 1:10 p.m. on Feb. 8 in the Heritage Room of The Millstream Café. Michael (Max) Bramel, Penn State Mont Alto professor in psychology, will present “Finding Our Way Out of Social Dilemmas.” The talk is free and open to the public.
Soul Steps will showcase the African-American dance tradition known as "stepping" at Penn State Mont Alto on Feb. 7 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the General Studies Auditorium. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
