During spring 2017, the Penn State Mont Alto Diversity Committee will host events to create an awareness that people are different and to develop understanding and appreciation for such differences. The events are designed to bring diversity and culture to the Mont Alto campus and give the campus community an opportunity to participate in the events.
Penn State Mont Alto's men's basketball team avenged an earlier season loss to Williamson by closing Wednesday night's game (Jan. 25) on a 13-2 run to a 66-56 victory.
On Saturday, Jan. 21, Mont Alto alumni, Advisory Board members, and guests gathered in the beautiful Pegula Ice Arena at University Park to watch the Penn State Nittany Lion men’s ice hockey team take on the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Blue noses will be sold by members of the Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) Club and THON who are working together to raise money and awareness to fight pediatric cancer. Starting on Jan. 28, blue noses can be purchased for $2 during the women’s and men’s basketball teams’ last home games at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
In the observance of Black History Month, Reggie Wayne Morris will perform from noon to 1:00 p.m. in Penn State Mont Alto's Millstream Café on Jan. 25. So, grab some lunch and enjoy the music! The event is open to the public and free of charge.
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy of service, a group of Penn State Mont Alto students and staff members cleaned, sorted, and organized donations at the Waynesboro New Hope Shelter and Thrift Store.
Penn State’s chapter of the Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) will sponsor a donor registry drive, in Room 114 Science Technology Building at Penn State Mont Alto from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 30, and from 2 to 6 p.m.on Feb. 2.
The Penn State Mont Alto women’s basketball team held a toy and book drive during their home games on Dec. 18 and Jan. 7. The toys and books were donated to local hospitals and Penn State Hershey Medical Center to brighten children’s hospital stays.
Nick Jones, executive vice president and provost, and Madlyn Hanes, vice president for Commonwealth campuses, visited Penn State Mont Alto with a team of Penn State administrators on Jan. 19. The visit is the first of 19 campus visits planned by the provost throughout the spring term.
